Visit to Richa Processing Mill

On 30th of November, the students of Faculty of Fashion and Design got the opportunity to visit Richa Processing Mill Pvt Ltd in Faridabad, Haryana, a leading facility in the field of digitally printed fabrics.  Since the early 2000’s, the mill manufactures and exports premium quality fabrics. Not only does it supply to the domestic market but also exports a variety of fabrics. 

A group of students from the fashion department got to witness the various operations in the mill which spans across 20,000 sq. ft area with superior quality machines that produce 10,000 meters of digitally printed fabric (each day) serving the demand of its multiple buyers including renowned designers and brands. Students visited various departments and saw the pre and post processing of fabric from greige fabric stage to finished stage. 

The primary objective was to familiarize students with the various digital printing technologies employed in fabric printing. This included learning about inkjet printing, colour management, and the role of digital design in the printing process. This hands-on experience aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. They had the opportunity to ask questions, seek insights into industry trends, and understand the challenges and innovations in the field.

Students learned about the criteria for selecting fabrics, colour accuracy checks, and the significance of maintaining consistency throughout the production cycle. They understood the importance of certifications like GOTS(Global Organic Textile Standard), OCS(Organic Content Standard) and BCI(Better Cotton Initiative).  

The visit to Richa Mill was a valuable and enriching experience for the students, offering them a first-hand glimpse into the dynamic and technology-driven world of digital fabric printing. The practical insights gained during the visit complemented their academic knowledge, fostering a deeper understanding of the processes and considerations involved in the industry.
