Faculty of Fashion & Design organized an educational trip of 4 days for the students of B.des. 2nd year, from 24-27 February 2020. The main motive of the trip was to provide a hands-on experience to the students about the different techniques of textile printing such as tie & dye, block printing, screen printing, etc. and understanding the basics The tour was accompanied by three faculty members – Mr. Akash, Mr. Dinkar and Ms. Geetanjali.
On the first day of the tour, the students visited the World Trade Park (WTP) which is a high-end shopping mall in the city famous as an architectural wonder, too. The students explored the various national and international retail brands dealing in fashion clothing and accessories. The second day was spent amidst the beautiful forts of the city. The intricate designs on the walls inside the forts give an inspiration to make the new designs. The architecture plays a good role in designing the clothes as it influences the clothing silhouette and motif. This kind of visit provides an exploration to the students to think out of the box. The day was ended with a pool party followed by the dinner. The third day was planned completely educational. Therefore, the students visited Anokhi Museum where they learned about the techniques of block printing and different kinds of blocks. Afterwards the students went to Hawa Mahal which is famous for its jharokas as they enable the free circulation of air within the structure. Then, the students visited Sri leather industries to understand the basics of leather science practically. Later the students visited various other industries also such as Kagzi industry and printing textile industry in Sanganer where they got to know meticulously how textiles get printed. The last day was spiritual as students went to Dargah Sharif, a sufi shrine in Ajmer, to address their prayers. Everything considered, the whole trip was educational for the students along with being entertainment.
