FACULTY OF FASHION & DESIGN

ROLE-PLAY

Date: 27th Jan, 2020

Presented by: B.Des. (6th Sem)

A role play is a fun and a ‘playful’ activity but also a key component in student’s learning.  It is a social space that develops speaking and listening skills, as well as given an opportunity to reflect on and develop their knowledge of a topic, whilst sparking and enhancing creativity and imagination.  Through the role play, a student can develop independence and problem solving skills.

For a teacher, it proves to be a good but a very challenging teaching methodology. A faculty member from the Faculty of Fashion & Design, Mrs. Shilpa Dennis, opted this method to teach the students of B.Des. 6th sem. She conducted a role play to teach her subject with better understanding.  This role pay was based on “Importance of clothing” which was related to ‘Socio-psycho aspects of clothing’. It was held on 27th Jan 2020.

All students of B.Des. 6th sem took part very enthusiastically and gave their best performances. Social aspects and psychological aspects of clothing were made understand through the play. Students were dressed in costumes of different regions. Overall, the play was knowledgeable and entertaining. Good team spirit and coordination was seen among the students.

It was played in front of all the faculty members and the Dean. Everyone enjoyed and appreciated the efforts of students, while some faculty members gave a corrective feedback also for the betterment.
